Yesterday evening, key representatives from leading national Hindu organisations met to consider issues arising out of the killing of innocent Gangotri.

The alliance of Hindu organisations agreed on three broad areas of action:

Investigation: A grave injustice had taken place to Gangotri and to Hindu Dharma.  The Government should be asked to instigate an independent investigation in the unwarranted killing of Gangotri.

Resignation: There must be accountability, and justice must be seen to have been done.

Legislation: The Government should be asked to take all necessary action to remedy the current law so that no innocent life is lost in the future due to beaurocratic intransigence
